DARYL HALL FLOATING ON AIR AFTER VISIT FROM PARACHUTE TO LIVE FROM DARYL’S HOUSE

Landmark 20th edition of acclaimed web show features Daryl and Mercury Records group with #1 iTunes album singing its hit “She Is Love,” Daryl Hall and John Oates classics

NEW YORK, June 09, 2009—Marking the 20th episode of his critically acclaimed online series Live From Daryl’s House, Daryl Hall invited Mercury Records rockers (and longtime Daryl Hall and John Oates fans) Parachute to join him, in a brand-new installment which debuts June 15 at www.livefromdarylshouse.com, where it can be seen along with archived footage of past episodes.

The Charlottesville, VA-based band recently climbed to #1 on the iTunes album charts with their debut, Losing Sleep, and hit single, “She Is Love,” one of seven songs the five-piece band performed with Daryl Hall for the show. “She Is Love” was also featured in the national television advertising campaign for Nivea Body’s Smooth Sensations, while the group has had its music spotlighted on such shows as 90210 and One Tree Hill, with a recent performance on the CBS Early Show.

Will Anderson, the group’s vocalist/guitarist and piano player, was thrilled by the experience. “Getting to do Live From Daryl's House was amazing,” he enthused. “We had an absolute blast singing some of the Daryl Hall and John Oates songs I grew up listening to and hope we'll get to jam with Daryl and the guys again soon!”

Parachute (www.weareparachute.com), which also includes saxophone player/keyboardist Kit French, bassist Alex Hargrave, drummer Johnny Stubblefield and lead guitarist Nate McFarland, performed four of their own songs with Daryl, including, in addition to “She Is Love,” “Under Control,” “All That I Am” and “She,” two Daryl Hall and John Oates classics, “It’s a Laugh” and “Say It Isn’t So,” as well as a rousing cover of Junior Walker’s “Shotgun.”

Past episodes of Live from Daryl’s House have featured a mix of well-known performers like The Doors, Nick Lowe, K.T. Tunstall, Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy, Finger Eleven’s James Black and Rick Jackett and the Bacon Brothers, along with newcomers such as Philly soul singer Mutlu, Canadian techno-rockers Chromeo, MySpace pop-rock phenom Eric Hutchinson, Cash Money rocker Kevin Rudolf, Wind-up Records’ Chicago rockers Company of Thieves, Bay Area singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson and Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek of The Doors.

Live from Daryl’s House started with Daryl’s “light-bulb moment” idea of “playing music with my friends and putting it up on the Internet,” and the show has subsequently been praised by such varied media outlets as Rolling Stone, Spin, Daily Variety, CNN, BBC, Yahoo and the influential Lefsetz Letter.

RollingStone.com: Daryl Hall on His “Oddball” Life in Hall & Oates, Web Series

Next month, Hall & Oates will hit the road for a short tour before Daryl Hall returns to work on his latest solo album. Hall, whose jam-session Web series “Live From Daryl’s House” celebrated its year-and-a-half anniversary in May, marked the occasion with a special episode featuring the Doors’ Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek. He recently spoke with RS about the status of Hall & Oates, his opinion on pop and his biggest regrets.

Why did you want to do “Daryl’s House”?
I’ve been traveling my whole career, which is most of my life. I thought why don’t I bring the world to me for a change? I’m a person who thrives on collaboration, so I said, ‘OK, let’s have guests on with all these different styles of music and let’s be as eclectic as we want to be, both generationally and stylistically.’ We’re on our 18th episode. Every show just blows me away.

Who is your dream guest?
Maybe Bob Dylan because it would be so fucking weird.

Looking at who’s out now, who are you a huge fan of and would like to have on “Daryl’s House”?
As far as new people, I hear new people all the time.

Any of the Idol people?
You know what? I’m not big with the “singing sensations.” If you notice the people that I tend to pick, they’re players as well as singers. They’re not really pop-oriented. They’re more rock, edgy, unique.

When you see the Britney Spears types these days, what do you think?
That’s got nothing to do with my life. The music has gone in two different directions. You have that direction, and then things like Daryl’s House is another direction.

Can I ask you about Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy, your first guest?
After this Daryl Hall for President thing that these guys did [the name of one of the Heroes’ summer tours] I obviously was made aware of them. We started talking, hanging out backstage. He really loves music. A lot of rappers don’t have traditional music abilities, he does.

Looking back over your career, is there a favorite moment, era? Is there a time when you just felt like you had it all?
I never felt like I had it all. In 1985 I had reached a certain point, all those things had happened, like Live Aid, We Are the World, Farm Aid, and I did that thing with the Temptations Live at the Apollo. I had the ability to sort of assess myself in the moment. But most of the time you’re still involved in it. You’re living. It’s the same way with music. I’ve never felt comfortable in the time that I was working. Maybe now I finally have, but in the ’70s I was sort of an oddball. In the ’80s I was definitely an oddball.

What’s the current state of Hall & Oates?
I think it’s only unclear because I don’t do one thing. John and I work together and we tour together pretty often. We play shows. We play our songs. We have different versions of them. Right now we’re doing what I call an up close and personal tour, we do a sort of acoustic version of our songs. Outside of that we do separate things. I’m very devoted to my solo stuff. I’m doing a solo album that I’m going to start in about a month and obviously I’m doing “Live at Daryl’s House.” I do the occasional Hall & Oates tour or gigs.

Are there any regrets from your career? Anything you wish you would have done?
There’s a lot of people that I wish I hadn’t of associated myself with. Both John and I came up out of Philadelphia and Philadelphia music is the hotbed of all anybody ever talked about as nefarious in the business. It was the street version of music. It was nasty. It was crookery. It was dog-eat-dog. We moved into the New York scene, which was pretty much the same thing. So we come from a very tough business. The fact that we’ve survived and thrived is a testament to our strength of will and also our ability to bounce back. We’ve been messed with. If I had it to do over, I probably would have chosen my relationships more carefully.

The Stories Behind the Songs

A member of the American Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, John Oates’ passion for song writing was the inspiration for his new music series : “ THE STORIES BEHIND THE SONGS”, presented by the Wheeler Opera House and Jazz Aspen.

The idea for the show was born when John was invited to do a seminar at the legendary Berklee College of Music in Boston. That experience led to the development of his solo concert performances that have garnered rave reviews and become a “can’t miss show” for fans around the world.

He explains, “I realized that although people were very familiar with many of the songs that I have written over the years ...they had no idea about who or what was the inspiration behind them. In addition, people always seem fascinated and curious about the songwriter’s creative process.”

Taking a page from the classic “Nashville” style songwriters circle; a format in which the writers participate in sharing the stage and taking turns performing their material “ in the round”; John had the idea to host and produce this style show in his home town of Aspen Colorado. He chose the acoustically pristine and beautiful Historic Wheeler Opera House as the perfect venue for the series.

This intimate, insightful and very humorous show gives the audience a glimpse into the art and craft of the song writing process in its purest form. John explains, “Songwriters by nature are an interesting, engaging and quirky group of creative people...they absorb, refract and reflect the world, then filter it though their own emotional experiences and articulate it in the form of a song. ”
The Stories Behind the Songs

Without a band onstage and with a minimalist production, both the performers and the audience can focus on the essential elements of the song itself. The intimate, acoustic setting allows the audience to become part of the show.

John says, “ I enjoy when I can see peoples faces, their reaction gives us cues as to what they like or want to hear...in between songs we talk to each other, they talk to us...we dissolve the barrier between the listener and the stage and give them a glimpse into the world of the songwriter”.

The series kicked off during the winter of 2008 with three shows. John invited some of his favorite writers to perform along side him for the initial season. The first show, headlined by the Grammy nominated, ethereal voiced Patty Griffin and supported by roots rocker Scott Miller was a smash success. This was followed by a second show featuring another Grammy nominated artist, the effervescent Tift Merritt with fan favorite, Scotty Emerick. The final show introduced the latest country music superstar, Jimmy Wayne along with song writing legend Bob Regan.

“The Stories Behind the Songs “ will continue next winter and expand into a five part series at the Wheeler Opera House. A concert tour is being planned for this fall as well.

DARYL HALL MAKES HOLLYWOOD HIS HOME WITH ROBBY KRIEGER AND RAY MANZAREK OF THE DOORS FOR NEW LIVE FROM DARYL’S HOUSE PREMIERING APRIL 15

18th edition of landmark webshow features Daryl along with members of legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Group

NEW YORK, April 13, 2009—This month, Daryl Hall breaks on through to the other side of the country, Hollywood, to be exact, as Live From Daryl’s House celebrates its groundbreaking 18th episode with its first west coast edition. Daryl joins guitarist Robby Krieger and keyboardist Ray Manzarek of the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group The Doors for a very special installment of the acclaimed web series, which premieres April 15 at www.livefromdarylshouse.com, where it can be seen along with archived footage of past episodes.

Manzarek couldn’t get over the quality of Daryl’s band, enthusing: "What a great bunch of musicians! Real cool cats and bad dogs, a down and dirty blast. Daryl really cut loose on our Doors' songs. And ‘Roadhouse Blues’ as a nasty, funky walk on the evil side entered almost forbidden territory, a place where, perhaps, musicians are not and should not be allowed to go...but we did. Wait 'til you hear it. It was too cool for school. I had a marvelous time."

“I loved working with Daryl and his band,” adds Krieger. “And, it was great to see and play once again with Kenny Aronoff, one of my favorite drummers. It was also cool to go back to the Pacific Palisades, where I grew up, to play music with world-class musicians. It kinda completes a circle. My old high school was just up the street, so that was pretty neat! Thanks again to Daryl Hall for inviting Ray and I over for a great day of music!”

The trio perform a pair of Daryl Hall penned classics, “Kiss on My List” and “Borderline,” along with four Doors songs, “People are Strange,” “Break on Through (to the Other Side),” “Crystal Ship” and “Roadhouse Blues.”

“What a thrill to be able to play with such great musicians as Robby and Ray,” said Daryl. “I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience for a while there. It was that good.”

Rhino recently released Live at The Matrix 1967 from The Doors’ Bright Midnight Archives. The release spotlights the band at the very start of its career playing an intimate gig at the legendary San Francisco club.

Also, coming to theaters this Fall will be The Doors' documentary film, "When You're Strange," narrated by Johnny Depp.

Past episodes of Live from Daryl’s House have featured a mix of well-known performers like Nick Lowe, K.T. Tunstall, Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy, Finger Eleven’s James Black and Rick Jackett and the Bacon Brothers, along with newcomers such as Austin, TX-based acoustic guitarist/songwriter Monte Montgomery, Philly soul singer Mutlu, Canadian techno-rockers Chromeo, MySpace pop-rock phenom Eric Hutchinson, Cash Money rocker Kevin Rudolf, Wind-up Records’ Chicago rockers Company of Thieves and Bay Area singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson.

Live from Daryl’s House started with Daryl’s “light-bulb moment” idea of “playing music with my friends and putting it up on the Internet,” and the show has subsequently been praised by such varied publications as Rolling Stone, Daily Variety, Yahoo and the influential Lefsetz Letter.

17th edition of landmark web-show brings together Bay Area singer/songwriter and legendary star on a set of originals and covers.

NEW YORK, March 09, 2009—Live From Daryl’s House celebrates episode #17 this month, with Daryl Hall welcoming highly touted singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson, a New England-born, San Francisco-based musician whose debut Vanguard album, Some Mad Hope, has produced the gold single, “Come on, Get Higher” as well as a number of songs for TV shows like NCIS, Private Practice, One Tree Hill, NCIS, Big Shots, Scrubs, Women’s Murder Club and Men in Trees. DARYL HALL BRINGS HOME THE BACON ON LATEST EDITION OF LIVE FROM DARYL’S HOUSE WITH BROTHERS KEVIN AND MICHAEL BACON, FEB. 15

NEW YORK, February 10, 2009— Live From Daryl’s House celebrates its sweet 16th episode this month with Daryl Hall welcoming The Bacon Brothers. Award-winning actor Kevin Bacon and his brother, film/TV music composer Michael Bacon, perform their trademark gritty rock with a touch of soul that traces back to their Philadelphia roots, the hometown they share with Daryl. The new edition begins airing at www.livefromdarylshouse.com on Feb. 15, and will be featured through the rest of the month on the site along with previously archived episodes.

“Growing up in Philly, we used to play in a lot of the same places Daryl did,” says Michael, marveling over how the six degrees of separation between the Bacons and Hall has brought them together after all these years.

Long before Kevin was a Hollywood star of stage and screen, and Michael a go-to film and television composer, the brothers shared a love of music. Michael Bacon was signed to Columbia Records right out of school in the group "Good News" and found success as a songwriter in Nashville. “My earliest memory of music was what my brother was playing or the music he brought home,” Kevin Bacon recalls. The Bacon Brothers formed in 1994 and are soon to release their sixth album New Year's Day on March 24th. They have managed to juggle independent success as well as a touring rock band.

Kevin's film credits include JFK, A Few Good Men, Apollo 13, Hollow Man, Mystic River, Sleepers, Footloose, a Golden Globe nominated performance in The River Wild and most recently, Ron Howard's Oscar-nominated movie Frost/Nixon as well as the HBO film Taking Chance. Michael Bacon has won an Emmy for his score for The Kennedys, an ACE Award nomination for his score for The Man Who Loved Sharks, and the BMI Television Music Award for his music to LBJ. Shows he has scored have won numerous Emmy Awards and three Academy Awards (The Johnstown Flood, A Time For Justice, and King Gimp). His most recent projects include the PBS special "The Trials of J. Robert Oppenheimer," and the Sundance Film Boy Interrupted.

The pair join Daryl for a set book-ended by Rolling Stones classics and Bobby Womack tracks "It's All Over Now" and "The Last Time." They also perform several songs from The Bacon Brothers upcoming release including the title track "New Year's Day," the current single "Go My Way (the iPod Song)," "Tell Me What I Have To Do," and "Bunch Of Words," as well as a cover of "When The Morning Comes."

“‘Go My Way’ is sorta my attempt to write a Daryl Hall song,” laughs Kevin. “I ran into Daryl in a restaurant and he showed me a clip and I realized Live From Daryl’s House is a place where you can see musicians perform and interact with one another, how this magical thing comes together. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at how music is actually made. When we got the call to be on the show, I was thrilled.”

“I was a little intimidated,” admits Michael about playing with Daryl. “But it has just been so much fun. I was pinching myself the whole time. There’s a real excitement in being able to watch musicians learn to play a song for the first time. There was a lot of energy.”

Past episodes of Live from Daryl’s House have featured a mix of well-known performers like Nick Lowe, K.T. Tunstall, Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy and Finger Eleven’s James Black and Rick Jackett, along with newcomers such as Austin, TX-based acoustic guitarist/songwriter Monte Montgomery, Philly soul singer Mutlu, Canadian techno-rockers Chromeo, MySpace pop-rock phenom Eric Hutchinson, Cash Money rocker Kevin Rudolf and Wind-up Records’ Chicago rockers Company of Thieves.

DARYL HALL AND WIND-UP’S COMPANY OF THIEVES SPOTLIGHT CHICAGO BAND’S DEBUT ALBUM ORDINARY RICHES ON JAN 15TH

For the groundbreaking web destination’s 15th edition, Hall joins Wind-up Records recording artists Company of Thieves, a highly touted Chicago-based band whose label debut, Ordinary Riches, was released digitally Jan. 6 and will be in-stores Feb. 24.  After two days on-sale digitally, the debut is #19 on the iTunes Top Albums chart, and #7 at Alternative.

The band’s lead vocalist Genevieve Schatz and guitarist Marc Walloch will perform a seven-song set with Daryl, which can be seen exclusively on www.livefromdarylshouse.com, including four tracks from the band’s Ordinary Riches album (“Pressure,” “Around the Block,” “Past the Sleep” and “Even in the Dark”), the Hall and Oates song, “Starting All Over” (from the duo’s 1990 album Change of Seasons) as well as the Daryl-penned smash, “Everytime You Go Away,” a hit single for Paul Young.  Hall, Schatz and Walloch also tackle a pair of classic rock covers in the Zombies’ “Time of the Season” and “Piece of my Heart,” made famous by Janis Joplin.

Company of Thieves has been called “one of the city’s most Buzzworthy bands” by the Chicago Tribune, while Billboard dubbed them “one of the best unsigned acts out there” before they were inked to a record deal by Wind-up. Consisting of sultry vocalist Schatz and guitarist Walloch, along with drummer Mike Ortiz, the group earned First Place in the New York Songwriters’ Circle Contest for “Oscar Wilde,” a tune named after the famed Anglo-Irish writer whom the band cites as an important artistic inspiration.

“I am really impressed with what I’ve heard from Company of Thieves,” says Daryl. “They are truly one of the best new, young groups out there. I was really excited to play with them. The sky’s the limit in terms of their future.”

“Daryl and his team of thoroughly experienced and talented musicians provided a welcoming environment for us to work in. The whole day was a huge learning experience for us,” said Genevieve.

“It was so liberating to be able to play freely with no worries because of the caliber of musicians we were around. We loved collaborating with Daryl, T-Bone and everyone who is a part of this special program, and are honored to have been asked to appear,” added Marc.

Past episodes of Live from Daryl’s House have featured a mix of well-known performers like Nick Lowe, K.T. DARYL HALL AND JOHN OATES TOGETHER AGAIN ON ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY EPISODE

13th edition of groundbreaking webcast spotlights Oates' solo album, 1000 Miles of Life, as well the very first performance of the doo-wop song that launched their partnership

NEW YORK, Nov. 3, 2008—In the 13th and latest edition of Live from Daryl's House, debuting Nov. 15, Daryl Hall joins with John Oates to celebrate the groundbreaking web-show's one-year anniversary by playing for the first time a song they insist was instrumental in bringing them together back in Philadelphia.

In the latest installment of the popular web destination, Daryl and John will spotlight Oates' recently released solo album, 1000 Miles of Life, which he recorded in Nashville with such noted collaborators as bluegrass legends Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas and Sam Bush, who hadn't played together since their days in New Grass Revival.

The highlight, though, is the duo's cover of the Memphis doo-wop obscurity, "I Want Someone," by The Mad Lads.

"It's the song that first brought John and I together as teenagers to form a group," says Daryl. "We shared a love for the tune, which, in my mind, is true American folk music."

"It was a favorite of Daryl and mine," adds John. "We saw The Mad Lads perform the song at the Uptown Theater in Philadelphia. I remember it because they wore yellow suits with white gloves. When Daryl and I met, and began to learn a little bit about each other, we discovered we both loved it. We've never played it live before. This will be a first."

Daryl and John also play four songs from Oates' solo album, including "Ghost Town," Oates' haunting ode to post-Katrina New Orleans, "Change of Seasons" and the title track. The two then launch into an impromptu version of the O'Jays' "Backstabbers" and their own "Possession Obsession."

Live from Daryl's House has become a destination spot for showcasing unique collaborations between Daryl Hall and the latest in up-and-coming artists as well as veteran acts.

Tunstall, Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy and Finger Eleven's James Black and Rick Jackett, as well as newcomers such as Austin, TX-based acoustic guitarist and songwriter Monte Montgomery, Philly soul singer Mutlu, Canadian techno-rockers Chromeo and MySpace pop-rock phenom Eric Hutchinson.

Live from Daryl's House started with Daryl's "light-bulb moment" idea of "playing music with my friends and putting it up on the Internet," and the show has subsequently been praised by such varied publications as Rolling Stone, Daily Variety and the influential Lefsetz Letter.

INCLUDES CHART-TOPPING HITS “MANEATER,” “PRIVATE EYES,” “RICH GIRL,” “SARA SMILE” AND “KISS ON MY LIST”

In Stores November 25

Los Angeles, CA – In May 2008, Daryl Hall and John Oates took the stage at the legendary Troubadour for the first time since playing their earliest Los Angeles shows there 35 years before. The best performances from this much anticipated two-night concert, which included hits such as “Maneater,” “Private Eyes,” “Rich Girl,” “Sara Smile” and “Kiss On My List,” will be made available in three formats – DVD, Blu-Ray, and a 1-DVD/2-CD combo, via Shout! Factory on November 25.

“John and I have a lot of great memories associated with performing at the Troubadour, since it was our first show in LA," said Daryl. "It's like going back to where it all began for us. We've always had an enthusiastic following in Los Angeles, and this is a chance for our fans to see us up close and personal in an intimate setting.”

Beyond the classic hits, the sold-out shows featured rarely performed fan favorites and deep album cuts, as well as Daryl Hall solo material, with the duo backed by a band comprised of longtime member T-Bone Wolk on guitar and vocals, Mike Braun on drums, Charles DeChant on sax, keys and vocals, Eliot Lewis on keys and vocals, Zev Katz on bass, and Everett Bradley on percussion and vocals.

The concerts were filmed by Blaze TV with 10 remote-controlled HD cameras, allowing the viewer to experience the performance as if they were inside the crowded LA club. Although an abridged version of the show will be broadcast on VH1’s Rave HD channel in late 2008, the Live At The Troubadour DVD will be the only way to catch performances of all of the songs, as well as exclusive new interviews with Hall and Oates.

Formed in Philadelphia in 1972, Daryl Hall & John Oates have enjoyed six #1 singles between the mid-‘70s and the mid-80’s, including “Rich Girl” (also #1 R&B), “Kiss on My List,” “Private Eyes,” “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do) (also #1 R&B), “Maneater” and “Out of Touch,” from their six consecutive multi-platinum albums—’76’s Bigger Than Both of Us, ’80’s Voices, ’81’s Private Eyes, ‘82’s H2O, ‘83’s Rock N Soul, Part I and ‘84’s Big Bam Boom. The era would also produce an additional 5 Top 10 singles, “Sara Smile,” “One on One,” “You Make My Dreams,” “Say It Isn’t So” and “Method of Modern Love.”

Daryl also wrote the H&O single "Everytime You Go Away," which singer Paul Young scored a number-one hit with a cover of the song in 1985. That same year, Daryl and John, participated in the historic “We Are the World” session as well as closing the Live Aid show in Philadelphia. By 1987, the R.I.A.A. recognized Daryl Hall and John Oates as the NUMBER-ONE SELLING DUO in music history, a record they still hold today.

Daryl and John have recently been receiving recognition from younger artists including KT Tunstall, Gym Class Heroes and Finger Eleven, all of whom have appeared on Daryl’s media and fan-praised web show, www.livefromdarylshouse.com, the captivating series that has been receiving kudos from Rolling Stone, Spin, Daily Variety and the influential Lefsetz Letter.

On May 20, 2008, the duo was honored with the Icon Award during BMI’s 56th annual Pop Awards. The award has previously gone to the Bee Gees, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Paul Simon, Brian Wilson, Willie Nelson, James Brown, Ray Davies, Carlos Santana and Dolly Parton.

Singer Oates visits North Penn High

From the Philadelphia Inquirer:

It may have seemed a little like the early 1980s to John Oates, one half of the pop-soul duo Hall and Oates.

There was an excited audience in the dark waving flickers of light. There were yells and screams as Oates sang "Sara Smile" and one fan asked the singer to autograph a body part.

But yesterday, Oates was visiting North Penn High School, his alma mater. The audience wasn't made up of peers, but of students born long after Oates' biggest hits. The flickers in the dark weren't lighters; they were cell phone cameras.

It was a mash-up of teen audience and veteran singer/songwriter yesterday when Oates, whose partnership has sold millions of records, came home.

"I used to love assemblies because it got me out of class," said Oates, 60, class of 1966. "Now, I'm your excuse."

Oates, who lives on a ranch in Colorado, visited and performed at the school as part of a swing through his old North Wales neighborhood. He was scheduled to perform last night in a solo show at the Sellersville Theater, where he planned to sing the old hits and songs from his new solo album, 1,000 Miles of Life. He is also scheduled to appear at the Rhythm and Blues Foundation Pioneer Awards tonight in Philadelphia and to perform with partner Daryl Hall at a private show this week in Atlantic City.

William Quigley, who owns the Sellersville Theater, suggested the high school performance to district officials.

"I wanted the school involved because he is the most famous alumni," Quigley said. "His parents live about six blocks from me. It was a great combination."

Oates grew up in North Wales when it was what the singer described as a "country town." He showed musical talent at early age and his parents nurtured it, first by buying him an accordion.

"I thought he could do weddings," said Oates' father, Al Oates, 85. But his son's response to the accordion was that the instrument was "too heavy." The reaction was different when Al Oates brought him a $10 guitar at a pawnshop. John Oates loved it.

Next came lessons; listening to records by Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Joan Baez; and writing. Oates' first piece was a seventh-grade composition protesting the Cuban Missile Crisis. His first group - the Soul Continentals - practiced in his garage. Later, came Temple University and stardom with Hall.

Oates' family watched from the front row yesterday: parents Al and Ann Oates, 82; John's wife, Aimee;and son Tanner, 12. A few feet away was Ed Klavon, who coached Oates on the high school wrestling team.

"I flitted between worlds," Oates said in phone interview before the show. "I was a musician and an athlete. I ran with the bad crowd and the good crowd. It was before the social revolution, the last years of that kind of innocent period."

At the show, Oates played acoustic guitar and used the falsetto and throaty rasp of his voice to perform a mix of the old and new.

He talked about the death of record stores and about new technology. (He doesn't have an iPod.) He discussed the creative and business disappointments strewn along his decades-long career and the need to equate self worth with more than a ranking on the music charts.

The students later called out requests for some of his biggest hits.

"Sara Smile" from 1976, shouted Ashley Samuels, 17, who said her grandmother went to school with Oates.

"You'll have to come see Hall and Oates if you want to hear that," Oates said from the stage at first. But eventually, he sang it.

“IT GOES TO ELEVEN”: CANADIAN ROCK GROUP FINGER ELEVEN MARK 11TH EDITION OF LIVE FROM DARYL’S HOUSE

Daryl Hall's set with rockers turns into "amazing trip" for group's James Black and Rick Jackett

NEW YORK, Sept. 5, 2008—In the mockumentary cult classic This Is Spinal Tap!, guitarist Nigel Tufnel memorably explains how his amp went beyond the norm with a setting of 11. "Where can you go from there?" he wondered. Well, Daryl Hall turns it up a notch with his free web-show, Live From Daryl's House, this month, featuring Canadian rock band Finger Eleven as special guests on the 11th, and latest, edition, which can be seen on www.livefromdarylshouse.com, starting Sept. 15.

Live From Daryl's House has become a destination for music fans seeking the latest in up-and-coming artists collaborating with the legendary rock singer/songwriter. This month's installment features guitarists James Black and Rick Jackett from Finger Eleven, which formed in 1989 in Burlington, Ontario, and were signed to Wind-up Records a decade ago. Their self-titled 2003, gold-certified release included the Top 5 single, "One Thing," while 2007's similarly gold Them vs. You vs. Me produced the massive crossover hit "Paralyzer," which has become the 18th most downloaded song in history, with sales approaching 2.5 million.

"First of all, Daryl's house was amazing!," marvels Finger Eleven's James Black about the performer's residence in upstate New York. "Old Revolutionary war walls and a haunted cat. Then to hear Daryl transpose his classic sound over our songs was an amazing trip. Great music, great people, great time."

The duo performed its own "Paralyzer," "Falling On," "Talking to the Walls" and I'll Keep Your Memory Vague" with Daryl taking lead vocals.

The show with Finger Eleven can be seen exclusively at www.livefromdarylshouse.com starting Sept. 15 at 8:00 pm EST.

Past episodes of the series have featured a mix of well-known performers like Nick Lowe, K.T. Tunstall and Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy, as well as newcomers such as Austin, TX-based acoustic guitarist and songwriter Monte Montgomery, Philly soul singer Mutlu and Canadian techno-rockers Chromeo.

Daryl Hall's "light bulb moment" of "playing music with my friends and putting it up on the Internet" has received kudos from such varied publications as Rolling Stone and the influential Lefsetz Letter.

Live from Daryl's House has taken place at Hall's residences in New York and London, as well as at the SXSW confab in Austin, TX, with plans to record at his other homes in Maine and the Bahamas.

John's Solo Album, 1000 Miles of Life, set for September 23rd

His second-ever solo disc features performances from Blues Traveler’s John Popper, Bela Fleck, Blind Boys of Alabama, Steve Cropper, Bonnie and Bekka Bramlett.

LOS ANGELES, August 28, 2008—For John Oates, longtime member of music's best-selling duo of all time Daryl Hall & John Oates, his second solo album, 1000 Miles of Life, scheduled for release on September 23rd on PS Records in association with U-Watch/DKE Records and distributed by ICON Music Entertainment Services, was a labor of love and devotion, a summary of his three decades as a professional musician. Amazon.com will have an exclusive digital version of 1000 Miles of Life starting on September 9th up until the September 23rd street date, when it will become available in all digital and retail outlets.

"It was a wake-up call for me," says John about the album, his second solo effort and first since 2002’s Phunk Shui. "After 30-plus years devoting myself to my art and craft, I needed to make a musical statement that someday I could look back on and realize, at that moment of time, I did exactly what I wanted to do. I've never written songs like this. I was on this inspirational roll. There was an urgency to it. I realized that I had no more time in my life for rehearsals… and I took that energy into the studio."

John dedicates the album to three inspired individuals who had recently passed away, but were major influences in his career—producer Arif Mardin (who produced Hall & Oates' first two albums on Atlantic Records), Jerry Lynn Williams (a writer who contributed songs to Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt and B.B. King, among others) and his original guitar mentor Jerry Ricks, who introduced him to the roots blues/folk scene in Philadelphia in the late 60s.

To prepare for the album, Oates traveled to Nashville and hooked up with veteran engineer Bil VornDick ("The guy had the keys to every studio in town," marvels John). It was Bil’s recording technique for acoustic instruments that gives the record the airy quality reminiscent of classic albums from the past. The next step was to bring in the crème de la crème of the city’s session players, including bluegrass legends Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas and Sam Bush, "I wanted players who knew how to frame a song," says John, "Who knew how to take a lyric and enhance it."

Co-produced by John with Jed Leiber, son of legendary songwriter Jerry Leiber, the album features eight orginal new songs, most of which were written this past year. In addition, there is an outstanding version of the Jerry Lynn Williams’ classic “Sending Me Angels” perfomed with the Blind Boys of Alabama as well as John’s interpretation of Daniel Lanois’ “Sometimes”. The new songs are complimented by the beautiful ballad, “I Found Love,” a folky ballad he wrote for his wife in 1993 as well as a new take on “Change of Season” originally recorded in the late 1980s.

Among the new tracks listen to “Ghost Town,” inspired by his visit to a post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans, this standout track with its atmospheric, cinematic feel, is a highlight of 1000 Miles of Life, featuring a plaintive banjo solo by Fleck, Blues Traveler’s John Popper on harp and an eerie New Orleans funeral march coda which seems to arise right out of the mist.

“When I went to the city, we got a chance to hang out in those neighborhoods destroyed by the hurricane,” says John. “I was shocked and embarrassed by the fact that two years later, a major American city could be left in that state of chaos. That really affected me. People losing their city but not losing their heart.”

Some of the other guests on the album include The Blind Boys of Alabama (“Sending Me Angels”), John Popper, (“Ghost Town”) Bekka Bramlett (“Carved in Stone”) and her mom Bonnie Bramlett of Delaney and Bonnie fame (“1000 Miles of Life”) as well as legendary guitarist Steve Cropper, longtime Hall & Oates band member T Bone Wolk, Jed Leiber on keyboards, string meister Jonathan Yudkin, bassists Michael Rhodes and Mark Fain, pedal steel and electric guitarist Dan Dugmore, drummers Doug Belote, Chad Cromwell and Shannon Forrest, percussionist Eric Darken, guitarists Tom and Bob Britt as well as Nathan Paul Chapman. Basic tracks were recorded in Nashville, vocals and guitars were laid down at Great Divide Studios in Aspen and the album was mixed back in L.A. at Leiber’s Nightbird Studios at The Sunset Marquis.

“I did everything on blind faith and gut feeling, but it worked like a charm,” says John. “The project began to take on this incredible momentum. There was a creative energy that carried the project through. Every musician dedicated themselves to these songs. It was the most effortless, joyful, inspirational playing I’ve experienced since recording Abandoned Luncheonette. There was a special chemistry… a special moment in time.”

Now that it’s finished, Oates is confident the process of recording a solo album will only enhance the music he makes with Hall and Oates.

“Doing this album is good for both of us,” he says. “When we do come back together, we bring those experiences to what we do, which makes it even better. But this is a very personal record for me and, without a doubt, the highlight of my recording career.”

Best known for producing the first three Barbra Streisand albums on Columbia, Berniker also produced numerous Broadway cast albums and other pop artists, including Eydie Gorme, Johnny Mathis and Perry Como, as well as jazz performers Ben Webster, Charlie Rouse and Paquito D’Rivera. The Brooklyn-born Berniker enrolled in an in-house A&R training program at CBS Records in 1960 and went on to produce Latin jazz, spoken word, comedy and classical records. After leaving CBS in 1968, Berniker worked as an executive with several labels, including RCA, where he signed Daryl Hall and John Oates, Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band and Juice Newton. Returning to CBS in 1977, he originated the Columbia Jazz Masterpieces series. Said Daryl Hall: “I remember Mike’s mischievous sense of humor. Daryl Hall Hooks Up with Cutting-Edge Canadian Innovators, Who Say It’s a Dream Come True

The 10th edition, which can be seen on www.livefromdarylshouse.com, starting August 15, will feature highly touted, two-man Canadian electrofunk outfit Chromeo.

The Montreal-based pair is made up of Dave 1 (David Macklovitch) on guitar and vocals and P-Thugg (Patrick Gemayel) on keyboards, synthesizers and talk box. We'll be pinching ourselves for years for come. Given that he pretty much wrote half our songs, it was about time we met Daryl Hall in real life.”

KT TUNSTALL TO JOIN DARYL HALL ON LIVE FROM DARYL'S HOUSE IN LONDON, MARCH 15

U.K. Singer/Songwriter Performs "Kiss on My List," "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," Bonnie Raitt's "Something to Talk About" and "If Only" with Daryl on Fifth Installment of Webcast

LOS ANGELES, FEBRUARY 29, 2008-Celebrated U.K. singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, will be the special guest of Daryl Hall on the fifth installment of his free webcast, Live From Daryl's House, on March 15 at 8 p.m., exclusive at www.livefromdarylshouse.com.

The two collaborate on versions of "Kiss on My List" and "Out of Touch," as well as her own hit, "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," as well as a cover of Bonnie Raitt's "Something to Talk About." The show takes place in London, where Daryl has a home.

"Working with KT Tunstall was a fantastic musical experience," said Daryl. "She's got a really great voice, with a solid guitar style and a very centered way of looking at music. Our voices really blend well and I'd love to work with her more in the future."

The Scottish singer-songwriter has been nominated for two Grammys and won three Brit Awards, selling more than four million albums worldwide after capturing the attention of the public with a performance of "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" on the U.K. TV show, Later with Jools Holland. Her debut album, Eye to the Telescope, peaked at #3 on the British charts and earned her a 2005 nomination for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize. Her second album, Drastic Fantastic, debuted in the Top 10 in the U.S. last September.

"I had such a wicked time," KT enthuses about appearing on Live From Daryl's House. "It was a dream to sing with such a great singer. Daryl really has an amazing voice. I've never sung with a guy able to do the things he can with his voice."

Live From Daryl's House debuted November 15th, featuring Hall's longtime collaborator T Bone Wolk. Other guests on the webcast included partner John Oates on a holiday special highlighting their Home for Christmas album and, most recently, Daryl was joined by Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy on the fourth installment of the series (which is currently being shown on www.livefromdarylshouse.com).

Each new edition of Live From Daryl's House takes place at one of Daryl's homes in either upstate New York, Maine, the Bahamas or, like this one, London.

"Daryl's House is a state of mind," he says, one that KT Tunstall has now experienced for herself.

"It's such a great vibe," KT said. "We had a great laugh. Working with such hugely talented and respected musicians, it was such a great vibe, I felt I'd known them for years. Daryl has a great thing going on there. It's pure music."

GYM CLASS HEROES’ TRAVIS MCCOY TO JOIN DARYL HALL ON LIVE FROM DARYL’S HOUSE FEB. 15
Rocker’s Appearance on Live Webcast Includes Covers of Daryl's "Everytime You Go Away," "You Make My Dreams Come True"

LOS ANGELES, FEBRUARY 12, 2008—Travis McCoy, lead vocalist for Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording group Gym Class Heroes, will be the special guest of Daryl Hall on the fourth installment of his free live webcast, Live From Daryl’s House, on Feb. 15 at 8 p.m., exclusive at www.livefromdarylshouse.com.

The two collaborate on a version of the Daryl Hall-penned “Everytime You Go Away,” a #1 U.S. and Top 5 U.K. hit in 1985 for Paul Young, and a brand-new take on “You Make My Dreams,” mashed up with the Gym Class Heroes’ track “The Queen and I,” off of their RIAA-certified Gold release, As Cruel As School Children.

Live From Daryl’s House debuted last Nov. 15, featuring Hall’s longtime collaborator T Bone Wolk, while partner John Oates guested on the second installment, a holiday special highlighting their Home for Christmas album in December.

Hailing from Geneva, NY, Gym Class Heroes’ alternative hip-hop style and use of live instruments in favor of canned beats and looped samples caught the attention of Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz, who signed them to his Decaydance imprint. The band’s breakthrough album, As Cruel as School Children, featured one of the biggest hits of 2007, the #1 smash single “Cupid’s Chokehold/Breakfast in America.” Gym Class Heroes also took home the 2007 MTV Video Music Award for “Best New Group”, beating out the likes of Lily Allen, Peter Bjorn & John, Carrie Underwood, and Amy Winehouse.

McCoy has long expressed his admiration for Daryl, even going so far as to name one of the band’s previous headlining concert jaunts the Daryl Hall for President Tour ’07.

Gym Class Heroes is currently in the studio working on the highly anticipated, follow-up to As Cruel As School Children. Hall guests on the forthcoming, as-yet-untitled album, slated for release this summer.

Said McCoy of his relationship with Daryl: “Part of me was horrified before working with Daryl to be honest. There are 2 people I hold high on my caste system of people I think are cooler than me, my father being the other. I grew up on Daryl’s voice. I am forever grateful for the chance to work with and befriend someone I've looked up to all these years.”

Commented Daryl: “Words fail to express the fun and creative fulfillment that I had recording and playing with Travis. I think the combination of his poetry and my musicality came together in a very historic way, and I don’t say that lightly.”

Adds Hall: “I haven’t felt this way since the Apollo Theater, back in the day, when I worked with the Temptations, except now the roles have been reversed.”

Each new edition of Live From Daryl’s House will take place at one of Daryl’s homes in either upstate New York, Maine, London or the Bahamas.

“Daryl’s House is a state of mind,” he says. The latest edition, with Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy, is a meeting of musical minds.

SECOND EDITION OF LIVE FROM DARYL’S HOUSE TO DEBUT DEC. 15

New Show Will Feature Daryl Hall and John Oates Playing Selections from Home for Christmas Album

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 6, 2007—“I feel like a new kind of media pioneer, as if we were at the dawn of television,” says Daryl Hall of his newest venture, Live From Daryl’s House, a monthly webcast which features him playing along with friends and colleagues in an intimate setting. “The rules are completely different. It’s freer and more flexible. I love the immediacy of putting out a new song, straight from my brain or the studio directly to the public.”

The second installment of Live From Daryl’s House, recorded at Hall’s upstate New York home with partner John Oates and T Bone Wolk, along with the rest of the band as well as a full string section, debuts December 15 at 8PM Eastern exclusively on www.livefromdarylshouse.com. The concert will feature songs from the band’s recently released Home for Christmas album on their own U-Watch/DKE Records label, distributed by ICON Music Entertainment Services, giving fans a version of the current tour, which started Nov. 30th in Chicago and runs through December 17th in Philadelphia.

“Musically, it’s amazing, it really came out fantastic,” says Daryl of the performance. “We decorated the big room with a Christmas tree and all the trimmings. Anybody that doesn’t get a chance to see the live show can catch it online. From a technical standpoint, it’s going to be even better than the first one.”

Since the first show, the site now includes the option to view the concert on a full screen, with the ability to listen to individual songs in the set on demand. The initial Live From Daryl’s House drew upwards of 46,000 hits and 30,000 individuals watching the entire webcast.

“The response has been so far beyond what I thought it would be,” says Hall, who says he’s using the information to find out about his fans, so he can continue to communicate with them about tour dates, album releases and other events involving him and the band.

“We’re finding out what you can and can’t do, what works and doesn’t work, as we go along,” he laughs.

For Hall, the Internet has been a godsend, enabling him to be independent of the stifling interference of a major label.

“All those who are afraid of this are terrified of giving up the status quo,” he explains. “They’ve been doing business by rote the same way for 50 years. But times have changed. I’m sure people were saying the same thing in 1905 when cars replaced the horse and buggy. Those dependent on the old technology have become mentally lazy. That’s why they’ve become dinosaurs.”

If you plan on being Home for Christmas, celebrate it with Daryl Hall and John Oates, Live From Daryl’s House on December 15. It’s their gift that keeps on giving through the holiday season.

LIVE FROM DARYL'S HOUSE TO DEBUT 11/15

LIVE FROM DARYL'S HOUSE TO DEBUT ON NOVEMBER 15
Monthly Free Video Webcasts Will Include New Daryl Hall Solo Material, Special Guests

NEW YORK, Nov. 8, 2007-"It was just one of those light bulb moments. I've had this idea about just sitting on the porch or in my living room, playing music with my friends and putting it up on the Internet."

And that was how Daryl Hall came up with the idea of Live from Daryl's House, a monthly Internet webcast featuring him playing along with some of his friends and colleagues in an intimate setting.

Live from Daryl's House is set to debut November 15 at 8PM Eastern, exclusively on www.livefromdarylshouse.com. Following the webcast, the episode will be available on demand any time through the website.

Among the guests scheduled to stop by as Daryl debuts some of his new songs are Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas, Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy, Flight of the Conchords' Bret and Jemaine as well as partner John Oates and longtime band member T-Bone Wolk.

"I've always thought live performances were the only way to communicate directly with your fans," said Daryl of the show's format, which he compares to an Internet version of the hit U.K. TV show Later with Jools Holland.

"This is straight from me to the audience. It gives me the freedom to allow a glimpse into my creative process and work with different musicians. And I feel more comfortable doing it this way. The Internet is a refreshing opportunity to reach people."

Daryl Hall has been an innovator as an artist and a businessman, with Hall & Oates one of the first successful bands to abandon the traditional major label system to release their albums independently almost 15 years ago.

"I did it because I was frustrated," he says of his move to the indie realm.

"I was tired of being dictated to by people who really didn't understand what I was doing."

Likewise, Live from Daryl's House allows Hall to introduce his own material, both in creation and finished product, with the final songs potentially forming a solo CD.

"I'm very proud, satisfied and happy with what I've done with Hall & Oates," he said. "But I also exist outside the band. This is an opportunity for me to exhibit what it is I do directly to the public without any pre-judgment."

Live from Daryl's House brings his music from his home to yours. Individual segments will be available on the website, with the entire program archived.

Daryl explains the show could take place in any number of locations, including one of his three homes in upstate New York, Bahamas and London, a recording studio, a front porch or wherever he happens to be.

"Daryl's house is a state of mind," he claims. One, starting in November, where everyone is welcome.

DARYL HALL TO APPEAR AT NYC LYME DISEASE FUNDRAISER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DARYL HALL TO APPEAR AT LYME DISEASE FUNDRAISING GALA IN NYC ON NOV. 1

Musician Will Perform at Turn the Corner Foundation Benefit and Sing Song Written by Dr. Richard I. Horowitz, 2007 Humanitarian Award Recipient

NEW YORK- October 23, 2007—Daryl Hall, of Daryl Hall and John Oates, the best-selling music duo of all time, will give a brief performance at Unmask a Cure, Turn the Corner Foundation’s Second Annual Fundraising Gala at Guastavino’s in New York City, Thursday evening, November 1, 2007 from 6-10 p.m.

The event will help benefit research and education for Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses. Hall announced two years ago that he suffered from the ailment and had dedicated himself to educating the public about the disease, with only one out of ten cases documented. President George W. Bush also recently revealed that he had contracted the disease, after keeping the news quiet for a year.

“Contracting Lyme disease is nothing to be ashamed of,” said Hall, who will also participate in a Q&A with the audience during the evening. “Many people aren’t even aware they’re suffering from it. The more attention we can draw to the symptoms, and the more research we can conduct towards its cure, the more we can alleviate some of the suffering and misunderstanding of the disease among the public.”

Hall will perform a solo set with his longtime collaborator T-Bone Wolk , including a brand-new song, “The Ballad of the Deer Tic,” penned by his own doctor, Richard I. Horowitz, who will be honored by Turn The Corner as its 2007 Humanitarian Award recipient. Bruce E. Mosler will be presented with the 2007 Spirit of Philanthropy Award, while Dr. Nick S. Harris will receive the 2007 Scientific Merit Award. Silent and live auctions will also be conducted.

Turn the Corner Foundation is a non-profit public charity dedicated to the support of research, education, awareness and innovative treatments for Lyme disease and other tic-borne diseases.

Advance tickets are on sale online for $200 before October 26, with any remaining tickets for $250 at the door. Guastavino’s is located at 409 East 59th Street in New York City.

"Home for Christmas" CD Re-released!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DARYL HALL & JOHN OATES' FIRST-EVER CHRISTMAS ALBUM WILL BE HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS WITH SEPT. 25 RE-RELEASE

World's Best-Selling Musical Duo's Xmas Album Will Now Be Available at All Retailers Nationwide, Tour Launches Nov. 30 in Chicago

LOS ANGELES, Sept 20, 2007-Building upon the success of their first-ever holiday album, which debuted last year, Daryl Hall & John Oates will re-release Home for Christmas on Sept. 25 through their own U-Watch/DKE Records distributed by ICON Music Entertainment Services. The album, which was part of an exclusive arrangement with Trans World Entertainment, will now be available at all music retailers nationwide, as well as online, for the first time.

"We are so pleased that Home for Christmas can now be bought by our fans at all retail outlets," said Daryl Hall. "This assures that everyone who wants one will have access to purchasing it."

Produced by Daryl Hall and longtime collaborator T-Bone Wolk and Greg Bieck, Home for Christmas, with special cover art designed by Michael McCurdy, features the world's best-selling musical duo giving new and original life to traditional holiday anthems such as "The First Noel," "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear," "The Christmas Song," "Mary Had a Baby," "O Holy Night" and a re-recording of "Jingle Bell Rock," a promo-only single that was a hit for the duo for many years. Daryl and John each wrote one original song for the collection, the title track "Home For Christmas and "No Child Should Ever Cry on Christmas."

"It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" reached #1 on Billboard's Christmas chart last year, while critics were effusive in their praise of the album.

"I find my ideas of beauty infinitely expanded," said Blogcritics.com reviewer Michael Jones about Home for Christmas. "That is how my heart feels about it. You will never regret purchasing this."

All Music Guide's Stephen Thomas Erlewine raved: "The result is the rare holiday album that feels familiar yet fresh, and there's enough variety here to make this a Christmas record that will hold up well over the years."

Daryl Hall and John Oates will launch a tour to promote the album, starting Nov. 30 at Audiotrium Theatre in Chicago. Other dates include Detroit's Fox Theatre (12/1), Columbus, OH's Palace Theatre (12/3), Cleveland's State Theatre (12/5), Asbury Park's Paramount Theatre (12/7), Boston's Orpheum Theatre (12/8), Hershey, PA's Theatre (12/10), New York City's Beacon Theatre (12/12), Connecticut's Foxwoods Theatre (12/14-15) and Philadelphia's Kimmel Center (12/17).

Hall on Bush's Lyme Diagnosis

Los Angeles, CA – August 9, 2007 - The news that President George W. Bush has been suffering from Lyme Disease for more than a year really caught the attention of Daryl Hall, one-half of the world’s biggest-selling music duo of all time Daryl Hall & John Oates, and someone who was also diagnosed with the illness over two years ago.

Hall is hoping the President’s admission will focus more attention on the causes and antidotes of the little-known malady: "While I'm sorry when anyone gets Lyme Disease, maybe it takes a person in power to draw attention to what all of us who have the disease, are going through. The withholding of information for a year points out the confusing politics of the disease. Now, George Bush can feel our pain."

Caused by a bite from an infected blacklegged tick often found on a deer, Lyme Disease symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue and a characteristic skin rash. If left untreated, infection can spread to joints, the heart and the nervous system. Most cases of Lyme disease can be treated successfully with a few weeks of antibiotics. Steps to prevent Lyme disease include using insect repellent, removing ticks promptly, landscaping and integrated pest management. The ticks that transmit Lyme disease can occasionally transmit other tick-borne diseases as well.

Passing of Ahmet Ertegun

Ahmet Ertegun was a giant in the record business. He cared first and foremost about the ARTIST and the MUSIC--much more than the business. He believed that if the Artist was true to him or herself, good business would follow. Sadly in today's atmosphere, this isn't the case. But, during Ahmet's days of influence it was! He was one of the first people to realize our potential and supported us during our beginning - the most important time. We couldn't have done what we did without Ahmet and Arif Mardin's support and encouragement. He changed music and created what I consider its golden age. He will be sorely missed. --Daryl Hall

DARYL HALL DIAGNOSED WITH LYME DISEASE

DARYL HALL DIAGNOSED WITH LYME DISEASE, IS ON TARGET FOR FULL RECOVERY

Postponed tour dates in support of their critically acclaimed new album, OUR KIND OF SOUL, to be rescheduled

NEW YORK, July 6, 2005—Daryl Hall, half of the chart-topping soul duo Daryl Hall & John Oates, has been diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Lyme Disease is caused by the bite of infected deer ticks, and often presents with a characteristic "bull's-eye" rash, which is usually accompanied by flu-like symptoms.

The malady caused Daryl Hall & John Oates to postpone a series of dates over the past few weeks, among them scheduled shows in San Diego and Los Angeles. Diagnosed early, Hall is expected to make a full and rapid recovery and resume the tour as soon as he is able. The duo's manager and agent are currently working on re-scheduling as many postponed shows as possible. The previously scheduled performance dates for August and September will not be affected. A revised tour schedule will be announced shortly.

“We are so sorry to disappoint our fans, but we promise to make it up to them,” said Daryl. “This illness made it impossible for me to give my best effort to our audience, but now that it’s been identified, I’m looking forward to a complete, quick recovery and to get back out there with John as soon as possible.”
